Mike Curtin to keynote 2013 Founders Day event
Long before he became a politician, Mike Curtin made his name by writing about Ohio politics.
Curtin wore many hats as he rose through the ranks during a 38-year career with the Dispatch. But he may be best known for his stint as public affairs editor and director of the Dispatch Poll, as well as the author of The Ohio Politics Almanac.
The former Dispatch editor and freshman state representative for the 17th district will be our keynote speaker for the 2013 Founders Day, May 16 at the Fawcett Center.
He’ll tell us how his perspectives have changed now that he’s part of the political process instead of writing about it, and share insights on the changing landscape of the media industry.
In addition, the chapter will present awards to budding high-school journalists, college scholarships and our First Amendment, Distinguished Service, Appreciation and Brick Wall awards.
Bring your checkbook and take home one of the great items from this year’s silent auction. It’s fun and the proceeds help fund our scholarships.
Tickets are $25 for students, $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Reservation deadline: May 10 12. Register on the site or at centralohiofoundersday.eventbrite.com
The evening starts at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and networking, followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m.
We hope to see you there!
