Fall 2010 events

The Central Ohio Pro chapter is sponsoring two big events this month in Columbus:

Law and Media Conference

Again this year, the chapter is one of the sponsors of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Law and Media Conference.

This year’s event will take place Oct. 15 at the bar association’s offices at 1700 Lake Shore Dr. in Columbus (off W. 5th Ave. just W. of Rt. 33). The registration fee for journalists is $30 before Oct. 8 and $50 afterward.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with an address by Barry McBride, publisher of The Orange and Brown Report. That will be followed by concurrent sessions on media law and related topics, including sports blogging; copyright protection on the Internet; tweeting and blogging in the courtroom; public records and electronic documents; investigative reporting; libel and privacy on the Internet; covering the courts; legal issues for Ohio’s student journalists; and shield law protection for bloggers and Internet reporters.

Visit the conference page on the bar association’s website for more details.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Huntington Club (Club Room Three) at Ohio Stadium, 411 Woody Hayes Dr. in Columbus.
