Law & Media Conference

Hold the date, Oct. 6, for the Law & Media Conference, jointly presented by the Ohio State Bar Association and Central Ohio SPJ. A brochure will be mailed soon to all chapter members.

Keynote speaker will be Prof. Thomas S. Hodson, director of the Department of Journalism, Ohio University, Athens. Hodson’s topic will be media law and roles, and the interplay between the 1st and 6th Amendments.

Morning and afternoon sessions will address reporter’s privilege and shield law, navigating the courts (for journalists), public records (for lawyers), privacy and libel, understanding the Supreme Court of Ohio, journalist ethics/lawyer ethics, political advertising, Internet issues, public records (for journalists), and nuts and bolts of trial coverage (for journalists).

Cost: $30 for members and $15 for students.
