The chapter also will present four college scholarships and its First Amendment, Brick Wall, Distinguished Service and Appreciation awards.<\/p>\n<p><a href='https:\/\/centralohiospj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/connieschultz.jpg'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/centralohiospj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/connieschultz-300x243.jpg\" alt=\"Connie Schultz\" title=\"Connie Schultz\" width=\"300\" height=\"243\" align=\"right\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centralohiospj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/connieschultz-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/centralohiospj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/connieschultz.jpg 504w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Schultz, a nationally syndicated columnist for <em>The Plain Dealer<\/em> and Creators Syndicate, won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for what judges called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153her pungent columns that provided a voice for the underdog and the underprivileged.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d It is a common theme in her work. That year she also won the Scripps Howard National Award for Commentary and the National Headliner Award for Commentary.<\/p>\n<p>In 2003 Schultz was a Pulitzer finalist for a series \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Burden of Innocence\u00e2\u20ac\u009d about a man imprisoned for 13 years for a rape he did not commit. The real rapist read her series, turned himself in, and is now serving a five-year sentence. Her series won the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Social Justice Reporting, the National Headliner Best of Show Award, and awards from Harvard and Columbia universities.<\/p>\n<p>Random House published her first book, &#8220;Life Happens \u00e2\u20ac\u201c And Other Unavoidable Truths,&#8221; in 2006. Her second book for Random House, &#8220;\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6And His Lovely Wife,&#8221; a memoir of her husband\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s race for the Senate, was published in 2007. Schultz is married to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown. They have four grown children.<\/p>\n<p>Connie Schultz is a true raconteur, a storyteller who sees life, whose words catch you up and take you places you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
