Race, Gender & Presidential Politics

U.S. presidential races always produce historic results, but this year’s race will end with either the first female vice president or the first African-American president. The national debate regarding racial and gender bias has been in full swing since the primaries featuring Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and has only heightened with the addition of Sarah Palin to the GOP ticket.CMC logo

Join us at the Athletic Club of Columbus at noon on Oct. 22 for an in-depth discussion of this year’s election from a gender and race perspective and hear how our panel thinks this election will change (or not change) the country’s attitudes.

The event is part of the Columbus Metropolitan Club’s political series and is being co-sponsored by SPJ and the League of Women Voters.

The panel will feature Ann Fisher, columnist for the Columbus Dispatch, Reggie Fields, Columbus reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Mike Thompson, news director for WOSU Public Media.

Chapter members attending the event can register at the guest rate ($27).
